Induction Noise!
Spent the last couple days doing some variuos runs to autotune my MS...
First off yesterday morning the damn thing died when I opened the throttle, needed to slip the clutch to get away!
Anyway found a bit road with roundabouts 2 miles apart and had a steady 3k rpm run up and down 2 times using the logging and megaview thing. Then used
the tunerstudio autotune on the way home.
It now runs, starts idles revs and goes (up to 4K so far)
Went on the A19 for some rolling full throttle runs and this prat in a Leon R thought I was racing him, speeding up and slowing down with me.
Tosser!
Big problem though, the intake noise is deafening! A huge whistling noise when I open the throttle and although it drives quite smooth it sounds real
loud and rough as a badgers.
And its using petrol likes its 2p a gallon!
I have nothing on the trumpets atm, question is, will a filter or air box quieten it down?

Filters will quieten it up a little, but not much. They do roar a bit 
I could always hear the induction on the pinto over the exhaust, and it wasnt exactly quiet, and the exhaust was on my side to.... :d

Airbox will quiten more than filters (I assume you mean the log or sock type filters?) but I think you'll be presently suprised what filters
will do, I would get some sort of filtration asap though, small stones kill engines quickly!

The air intakes on my bike carbs are louder than my (just legal) silencer... gets embarrassing!

An airbox is the only way you will quieten induction noise. The difference in noise just revving the car staionary with the airbox on is amazing.
I will eventually have a duct in the nose connected to the inlet of the airbox to draw in cool air.

thats a pretty little airbox Stuart is that the pipercross one?

Yup Pipercross airbox bought from the bay of e for half their normal retail cost, mated to a bespoke fiberglass adapter/airbox base made by me

Great news on your car. Really pleased to see that you have got it working right. Once you get beyond 4k I think you can forget about being troubled
by Seats.
It surprising how much fuel you get through when doing the auto-tuning thing. I guess it shows how little time we spend at full throttle when we
normally drive on the road.
