Bugger, overfilled engine
I didnt realise my dipstick tube wasnt fitted properly and have now much too much oil in.
I dont want to undo the drain plug as last time i did that, it came out so fast it overflowed my container and went all over the drive.
Is there any easier way to do it?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Do it the american oil-change way? Big tube, stick it down the dipstick tube, and suck some oil out with a large syringe or similar.

or down the 'household products' aisle at your local Asda - probably £5 at the very most......... or a local £1 shop might be even better
Or you could buy a syringe thing you'll probably never use again.....

Pipe down the dipstick tube, either syphon, syringe or if you have (I think its called) a pumpjack then it shouldn't take too long. Good luck

Put a tube into the dipstick hole, place the other side of the tube below the sump, suck on the tube and let physics finish the job!

Buy a Xflow. doesn't matter how much oil you put in once of those suckers, it'll still be empty after a half hour drive

overfill
Do what I did, use a bike pump.
I just cut the end of the rubber conection and poked it down the dipstick hole, draw the pump back and suck out the oil.
(Lots of scope for inuendo there)
Denis.
Where did that go?

Do they sell those small suction pumps that are powered by a hand drill over there, quite cheap here. Tube down the dipstick hole, pump into a
container and use for top-ups.

All sorted. Went to the supermarket and found a decent size tray, drained a bit out and now the level is normal.
Taking the prop to be shortened tomorrow so hopefully first drive at the weekend
