Tach Signal and Megasquirt
Hi Guys,
Just trying to get my Rev counter working with my MS. I haven't added the necessary internals to the MS to get the MS to provide the output for
the rev counter, and I really don't want to open it up again to change it. The Rev counter was supplied by the -ve side of the coil and
I've come across this diagram
MS Tach
This refers to and EDIS setup, but I’m using a wasted spark setup. Will it still work?
Also does anyone happen to have the appropriate Diode lying around, that I could have?
Cheers
Scott

give it a go. There is a chance that it will over-read by a number of different integer factors.
It all depends what the Rev counter is expecting, but if it a 6 cyl rev counter that was originally getting signals directly from the coil then I
think this could well work.

worked on my zetec coilpack
(followed the 4 cylinder route described above)

That circuit will work only on a 6 cylinder tachometer that works by sensing the high voltage "kick" from the coil when the plugs fire.
It won`t work on the ones that work sensing the switch to the -ve.

Worked on mine(4cyl) but I had to add a pull up resistor.
