what diff is it?!?
Hi,
Just took a diff out of a 93 sierra with a 2.0 engine.
The serial on it is 85GG 4025 CB and I can't find any reference to this number...
Not even sure if it is a 7" or a 7,5"...
It has bolt on shafts and rear solid disks.
Any clues on what it might be?
Thanks for the help.

I think you are looking at the casting number on the case rather than the serial number which should be on a tag on one of the bolts holding on the
rear cover.

You can remove the backplate. Empty oil. Give each bolt head a sharp tap with a hammer first (steel in ally corrosion). Diff ratio will be written on
gear. You can see if it's a viscous diff. I vote 3.62.

Being as it's a 93 jobby, it will almost certainly be a 2 Ltr DOHC, so I go for a 3.91, but could be wrong, Cheers Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

hi,
been out over the weekend.
minitici you were right I was looking at the case casting numer.
It is a 7.5" for sure.
There is a plate on a bolt that has the following:
89GG AA 391
4A OM18
I will open it tomorrow and see who was right
Cheers

Sierra Diff
Hi,
A friendly man at the local ford dealer let me use his microfiche machine and I've managed to get all the part numbers, FINIS numbers, exploded
diagrams etc for Sierra, Granada and Scorpios. I'm putting together everything I've found
atwww.super7thheaven.co.uk
Hope that helps - It's a work in progress

Never mind; just kept whacking it with a lump of wood (after removing all of the bolts!) and it eventually popped off.
