probably easier to help if you give some more details such as engine and how you have wired it at the moment.

Have you tested the starter motor off the car at all?? There's generally two positive terminals - one for the main motor and one for the
solenoid. Connect an earth cable to a mounting bolt and then test the motor using the positive lead to the motor itself. Best to clamp the motor in a
vice but i've tested one by standing on it before (not ideal really)

Did you say you put the battery onto another car? or you took the battery from another car and tried it on the kit?
If the first, knackered battery. If the second, probably your missing the earth strap from the engine to body (i.e corrided terminal etc)

Possibly when you have tightened the +ive pole nut, the shaft has turned and pulled the internal cable out inside the motor, I had this happen once
with very similar symptoms.
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

right, i have just pulled the solenoid off the starter and tested the starter on it own and it spins fine. i then it back with no inprovement. so from
that i would now say it the solenoid that gone. ?

Take the solenoid apart - it has to be something daft.

I usually give it a spray of wd40. If that works, then lube it up with some normal engine oil and then wipe dry the excess.
nothing is impossible
everything is possible
