Which Low Pressure Fuel Filter?

Hi all,

I need a LP fuel filter to go before my fuel pump that will be supplying my GSXR TB's (through a HP filter).

I'm not sure which filter to get. There seems to be a vast range of filters available from a few pounds to a £50-60 for these bullet type filters. There isn't a great deal of info that I could find to say what flow rates they can handle, which I imagine is the most important requirement?

Anyway, what are people using? Is there a relatively cheap solution?

Thanks

Alex

I can't recommend a filter but I will recommend that you make the connections doubly good. The filter will be subject to negative pressure, particularly if the upstream fuel line is at all restrictive, and will readily leak air inwards through what may seem like good connections.
We had this problem on a car many moons ago. The resulting misfire was difficult to diagnose.

The cheapo disposable ones should be OK, they certainly work either side of a LP pump on my cars, and I used one before a facet red-top pump too. My only reservation is that the HPm pump will be pulling a lot more fuel and very fast, so may be worth getting one that has a larger bore. I know that the RS cosworths had a nice large filter that works, 12mm in and out.

Or CAV296 with nice cheap filters (as used on the TR6 and so on)

cheers for the info. So based on the fact that the sytec one can be used for carb system filter, pump pre-filter and injection system filter, am I best off just using another one of the HP filters I've got after the pump as a pre filter as well?
Thanks

You might still be able to find one of these if you are lucky. They seem to have gone out of production but are near-perfect for the job at hand.
