Chinese Tig Repair
Some of you may know I bought a chinese tig off the bay from a reputable seller and the bloody thing wouldn't weld in ac mode, welded loverly in
dc mode though, thought it was me just me being crap, however at the same time I bought a tig welding starter kit from Mike at
Cut40.com so when I ran into trouble I dropped him a quick email as I'd read from his website that he also
repaired too.
Anyway to cut a long story short, went over to see him tonight and what a great fella, he's trying to build a business with integrity too which
seems to be rare in this day and age, he's got all the kit to test a repair electickery stuff with lots of toys in, he even let me have a play
with a plasma cutter and then sat me down and showed me how to set up my tig and weld properly, unfortunately my tig needs a part, one of the boards
is duff so I'm trying to get the seller to pay for it so he doesn't have to take it back and refund me, he doesn't have another to
swap.
Even though its been a bit of a pi55er being sold a knackered tig, I've had a good day and learned lots and the worse case scenario is,
it'll cost me £80 to get it fixed (and modified to improve it, he helps develop them too) (I did buy it for about a ton cheaper than anywhere
else so not really going to be out of pocket, just not the bargain I thought I'd got)
So, if you've got a chinese welder thats not working, it maybe worth dropping him an email via his website, I won't link his email here as
he'll probably get spammed to death, think he may have a specialism in the ones pictured on his site, mines a wsme200 (I think) but he maybe
able to help with others, he has a fixed price repair of £80 and £20 for carriage so seems like a reasonably deal to me to get a tig working the best
it can with a bit of warranty too.
He's also thinking about running half day courses, something like "tig for twats" (I think I should do his marketing!!) where
newbies bring down there own tig, he helps set them up, mods them if necessary and the a few hours tuition by a proper tutor, its a way away for me
but I'm pretty sure I'd make the effort although would depend a lot on how much it cost of course.
No connection other than an impressed customer, i,ll be even more impressed if he fixes the bugger

Where abouts is he? Presumably knaresborough area? Id also be interested in a bit of proper tuition if hes fairly local and depending on cost

Nottingham area, so a couple of hours away, saying that if there was a few of us we could meet up somewhere and go down it one ??
I think it would be worth it though...

Even im tempted by that, i dont have a Tig set or any real need for it, but notts ist only 50minutes away. He doesnt do 'mig for mugs' as
well does he?

Maybe, the geezer that will be running the course is a mate of his but he's also a college tutor on welding so may well do, that only leaves arc
for ??

Hi Guys, Thanks for interest in the welding courses and the marketing comments (I think) I will do some work to see how cheap we can do them for (yes,
we don't like spending money, ours or other peoples) and post something on the website. We should be able to provide all types of electric
welding although we dont have any gas equipment. Barry is a Professional Welding and Fabrication lecturer and is a very helpful guy. The first course
of Barry's I attended was "Welding for Wan..rs"so you should all feel at home.

I posted on this site about my TIG welder needing repair and Mike at Cut40.com contacted me saying he might be able to help. I have never been a
customer of his but he could not have been more helpful in trying to sort out my welder. I live in Bristol so to save on courier costs or me traveling
up to Nottingham Mike suggested that, if I was confident / competent enough I could try some of the tests he would carry out to diagnose the problem
and keep reporting back to him via email. I have had Mike contact me during office hours, evenings and even weekends with suggestions and what to test
next.
I have some things to test today and it may be that the set will still need to be sent to Mike in the end but he is doing all he can to diagnose the
problem remotely for me.
Many of us are interested in Chinese welders and plasma cutters as they are within our hobbyist budgets but we are aware of the risks we take with
regard to quality and support. As Mike explained to me his company import Chinese equipment and improve upon it to provide a better quality product
with UK warranty and support. If I was in the market for a new welder or plasma cutter I wouldn't hesitate to contact Cut40.com as I have
already experienced their customer service and it is exceptional.
Well done Cut40.com and keep up the good work.
