Tape seal

Hi all
Just bought a new fuel reg and it says I need to use tape seal?? on the inlets and outlets , I take it you can't use ptfe tape as the fuel will brake it down , can I use gasket seal or is there such a thing as a tape seal and if so where do you buy it ??
Cheers
Rob

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Cheers Blake but I'm sure you can't use ptfe tape because the fuel will brake it down causing leaks.

PTFE is almost completely inert, very few chemicals will 'break' it down including petrol. However, it's not a great idea to use on fuel lines as it tends to get torn into very fine threads as you tighten the fittings and they could easily end up in the fuel pipe.

One of the liquid thread sealants might be a better idea, e.g. Loctite 567

I work on anchor handling ships and we use PTFE tape on pretty much anything. Not sure if it's the recommended way or not but seems to do the job for me

to go against the grain, ptfe tape will be fine as long as you don't put it too far down the thread.

Yes, as I mentioned Loctite 567 is the right stuff for this. The datasheet explicitly mentions that it is suitable for sealing/locking in petroleum based applications.
