low pressure pump noise?

Hi all,

Just a very quick question, I have a low pressure fuel pump which I have just wired in. I only put ignition on for a few seconds and the pump "ticks" very loudly. Is this because there is no fuel in the system or are they this noisy all the time.

The pump is this one.....

Hope it just a case of running without fuel as it makes on hell of a noise!

It will rattle and clack when dry, once fuel runs around it will reduce to a slow click

They are best not run dry actually as the fuel cools them and lubricates.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I have a facet pump and it does make a noise when wet but once engine is running it is not very noticable.
