fuel tank mounting?????
Hi there
I have made a fuel tank and now I need to fix it in my car, I was thinking of using some rubber mounts to go from the frame to angle iron brackets
welded to the base of my tank but I have seen allot of straps, in your opinion should I use the rubber mounts, bolt the tank straight to the frame, or
use some type of straps???? Help please

I used ally straps with foam tape between straps and tank, plus foam tape under the tank where it sits on the chassis.
Traps bolted to chassis.

I used some steel straps, with car floor rubber between.
You need to be able to tighten strap down so one end can be screwed to chassis, the other will need to be able to be tightened to pull tank down. Iirc
rubber is a "requirement". I folded the strap over a bit of bar, which I drilled and tapped, then drilled a hole in the strap, so I could
get a bit of studding into, then bolt this down through a chassis fixture.

It's more than a "requirement" if you don;t want the tank to ware though as the tank moves about you should use rubber.. Metal to
Metal contact is a no-no. Also weld on lugs are not a good idea either unless you sit the whole lot on a rubber isolating mounting..
