Megasquirt TPS load%

If I look at the Dia'g page in Tuner Studio my TPS gives a reading of 800 - 1000 things because I dont; believe it is %

Anyway if I look at the spark table & the Fuel table while running (idle with no throttle) my graph shows the blue dot jumping from 0% to 100% (throttle) and back very quickly like I am getting noise.

is there and way I can filtre this noise so that I get a smooth tps.

I played with the TPS cal tonight and seeting this to 25 -100 certainly dropped the idle down to about 500 but then it would'nt / rev well.

using Alpha - N so that is tps + Map...

I'm getting so confused with megasquirt..... all I want is emmission that I will pass an MOT with before summmmmer is gone.

Engine 1.8 Zetec
Throttle boddies
Zetec Injectors (ford 1.8)
Wideband Lmdba ( LC-1)
TPS (gsxr750)
Air Temp Sensor (ford)
Crank Sensor (ford)
No CAT on engine ( so no cat MOT)

still hitting 1400 HC buckets of Gas as well and a Petrol Hydrocarbon smell all the time

Can anyone help me get this running

Change back to speed-density from Alpha N and re calibrate your TPS

You can improve noise by wiring the TPS using shielded cable, but shouldn't really be necessary.

Speed density uses the map sensor not Alpha N. Alpha N uses TPS and RPM.

Are you looking ar tps versus map in tuner studio then???

Std graphs would be map versus rpm in speed density OR Tps versus rpm in alphaN. the figures in the tables are then the ve bins.
What you seem to be looking at is map versus tps and I'm not at all sure of what the figure in the tables would be.
I'm up in Fraserburgh and quite busy just now but could possibly come down at some point if you wish. Alternatively we couuld talk on the phone at some point with regard to getting you head around tuner studio and its little quirks. Once you've got it set up right then it'll self tune to a degree quite easilly. especially with the lc1 in place.
Pm me if you want to talk and I'll send my number and a time for talking.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

If you want tuner studio to automatically tune you need to upgrade from the free version, costs about £30

There is a itb option on more up to date firmwares where map is used upto a set switch point then its tps if it helps any.

If you're using throttle bodies you'll struggle to get a decent (stable) MAP sensor reading because there's no plenum chamber. For throttle bodies I suspect you'll have to go Alpha-N and use the throttle pot as your load sensor. If you're getting a noisy signal off the pot, try things like;

-monitoring it with the engine stopped - EMI from ignition system (is the low voltage side suppressed?)
-good old wire waggling - dodgy connex?
-then fire it up and move the TPS wiring away from ignition/injector driver wires - EMI?
-take TPS off and HOLD it against the idle end stop with engine idling - still noisy? if not, could be mechanical slop - D'oh!

I'd also advise spending some time making sure the throttles are synchronised nicely before trying to get the MS set up. It'll idle like a bag of spanners if the throttles aren't reasonably well matched first. Ask any classic BMW M1/3/5/6 owner!

Shielded cable is probably a good shout too - I used top notch microphone coax (OFC conductors..) for my Crank VR sensor.

Good luck.

It sounds like it needs calibrating too, its reading 800& then moving to 1000% as you have not calibrated the TPS.

That would be my guess from what you have put...

If you get really stuck, get your laptop on there with skype, connected to car, and I will set it up for you over the web
