Simple advice, pushing on fuel lines. .
Hi all,
I am currently changing all the rubber fuel lines on my car as a couple of them have some cracks and fuel is leaking from somewhere.
I am finding it hard to push the new rubber pipes onto the copper tube.
Any advice. I was thinking hair dryer to heat the rubber. I dont want anything too hot or naked flames. I like my face!!!!
So, any tips?
Cheers,
Biz

Olive oil or similar.
Other suitable lubricants are.
Liquid hand soaps (nb hand soaps not detergents ) work quite well.
Castrol-Girling brake grease
Most mineral lubricants (including WD 40 which is mainly kerosene) don't work well on rubber as they just make the rubber sticky.

Use anything suggested above it'll all prob be fine, but I always take out a small cup of boiled water to dip the rubber ends in for a few
seconds and that helps the last bit of stretch you need...

Kettle with a bit of water in bottom. Boil it hold pipe end in for a minute
Then little bit of light oil on fitting and push hard. Worked for me.
Just make sure you don't scald your self.

KY jelly works well. Don't ask me how I know
I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

Agree with the hot water, then use 'white' grease, it doesn't affect the rubber at all. Always works for me.
