Cycle wings and IVA.

Hi guys,

If my cycle wings touch my side panel (only just) on full lock, is this likely to fail IVA?
It is not restricting the movement at all.

Thanks,
Andy

It will probably depend on your IVA centre, but don't forget that the wheels will be up/down from that position and it looks like it may be closer under droop?

Just my 2p worth

Easy enough to pull the steering rack gaiters back and a fit a pair of lock restrictors.

Couldf you try and relocate the wings so that they angle away from the base of the tyre, whilst keeping the tyre coverered!

Or the easy cheat is, pull back the steering gaiter, and stick a small jubilee clip over the steering rod and tighten up TIGHT, and cover in insulating tape to avoid it chaffing the steering gaiter

you will of reduced the steering movement by 1/2 and inch,

40inches - thanks for posting the photo, had read about doing this and wasn't sure where they needed fitting. Makes sense now though and another job for the list.

RS Components, look for double split collars.

Hi 40inches

Just out of interest what size collars did you buy? I have just measured my steering shaft and it's 18mm the closest sized collars at rs are 16mm or 20mm.

The reason I ask is, I built my striker 8 years ago and absolutely love it...however I was at rockingham yesterday on a track day and at 3pm I lost turning left. I had to get my little car towed home on a trailer that I had to hire. I used the cheap and now I find out rubbish method of the jubilee clip that got mangled in the rack and broke thus stopping me turning left....very scary when your entering PifPaf at 50mph which is a long drawn out fast left!!

Thanks in advance

Matt
