Zetec turbo MS map and table advice
Hi all,
My first post and I'm begging I'm afraid
I've recently built up a 2.0 Zetec turbo motor in my Westfield and it's running a new MegaSquirt 3 ecu in wasted spark mode using Ford
coil pack. The engine is a DIY decompression plate jobbie and it's running Astra VXR turbo fuel rail & injectors (470cc/min max). I'm
looking to run it at a max of 10 psi boost which would hopefully give me around 210 bhp safely. I've got wideband LC-1.
I've barely got the engine to idle at the moment, but I need it running ready for a road trip to Wales in 4 days time!
Looking around the net I can't find many Zetec turbo MS maps or tables - so many dead links out there though, but I know there are a few running
on here!
Does anyone have a zetec turbo map or ignition/fuel tables that they can send over or post please? I'm unsure of ignition advance table mostly,
as I know it's quite different for a turbo motor compared to n/a. Any MS help/tuning advice welcome.
Can email steve.tease@gmail.com or post or PM.
cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Got your PM. You're welcome to a copy of mine, but I'm away from home for a few days now and won't be able to send it over until
next week.
If I haven't sent anything across by Tuesday, feel free to remind me!

Hi Steve. Did you follow any sort of guide to stick a turbo on your zetec or was it all just your own work?
Would be nice to see some sort of guide as to how it's done.
My plan at the moment is to get a zetec running on standard ecu but I do love a good turbo.

Did you get your zetec turbo sorted?
....one thing i have got to say, first job would be remove the de-comp plate and see how far you can throw it!!! ;-) no need at all to lower the
compression upto 16PSI of boost assuming you have an intercooler.

Thanks for the MS map Tom.
Shorty - didn't use a guide as such, but just gathered loads of info from various forums. My westfield already had a CVH turbo engine in it
though, so I had a good idea that it'd physically fit and the turbo to exhaust silencer pipework was retained which meant I didn't have to
have that part fabricated. There is a build topic on the SKCC site here, but I haven't yet got round updating it for ages:
http://southernkitcars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3792
Vauxhall VXR Turbo fuel rail & injectors mated to a Fiesta RS1800 zetec inlet manifold:
Escort RS Turbo exhaust manifold with Zetec manifold flange welded on (bottom pic): (I wouldn't recommend using a CVH>Zetec manifold adaptor
plate as the exhaust ports won't line up well with the CVH manifold ports).
Better than it's natural habitat of an old Mondeo
Intercooling is handled by smallish PWR charge-cooler with it's own radiator mounted in the nose cone. Seems to do a good job.
Engine has been in and running for about 4 weeks now, and I've clocked up around 1500 miles already!
This project was quite a learning process for me and I went the tried-and-tested route of decompression plate. It wasn't until late in the
project that I decided to go Megasquirt... I was just planning to use the Fiesta Turbo management that I already had. I'm still trying to get to
grips with Megasquirt and TunerStudio.
I've just been using Meqasquirt TunerStudio autotune feature and the car seems to go really well but I am unsure of Ignition Timing table and
the idle is a bit crap. It doesn't have an idle control value though, so I had to drill a hole in the butterfly to get it to idle. Sometimes
it'll idle fine at around 950rpm and 14.5AFR but other times it'll start hunting like crazy, or stall at junctions. I just started
experimenting today actually with the Idle Advance and Idle VE table features though, as I didn't have these enabled.
BaileyPerformance - I'm keen on coming to you for a proper setup. I'm right down in Surrey though, so it's quite a trek!
I'm hitting a max of 11.5 psi boost according to Megalog Viewer, which is around 175% kpa load (y axis).
Anyone care to comment on these tables? Advice/feedback welcome
Steve

Your spark table looks close, maybe alittle over advanced in places but nothing crazy - a zetec does not need much advance to make power.
your VE table looks abit odd.
Are you sure you are seeing fuelling in the 11's under boost? i'm sure you know this is very important to avoid meltdown.
