RON CHAMPION - RESTORATION-REINFORCEMENT-IMPROVEMENT - NEED YOUR HELP
Probably you have covered this before and apologies for that, but I did search the forum and did not find a reply to my questions.
I have a Locost 7 chassis completed as per Ron champion's book.
Since I am going to rebuild the car and use a new (turbocharged) engine, capable of 260-300 bhp I would like to ask first of all if the chassis will
cope with the power and torgue in track.
Since I am bring the car back to chassis and will repaint the chassis, I would like to make any improvements you guys suggest from your experience
that worths doing but most importantly reinforce the chassis (by triangulation???)
In that case do we have any drawings and/or instructions?
Is it worth doing? Roughly how much weight will that add?
Your reply is very valuable for me.
Many thanks for your time,
Alexis

I have no answers to power the chassis would take, but I wonder if the modifications that are required for the Aussie market will add the required
stiffness to the chassis
Look through this little lot it may help

Why do I have to make the tools to finish the job? More time then money.

Have a look here
http://locost7.info/mirror/chassis.php
You want the word documents
http://locost7.info/files/chassis/kitcaranalysis.doc
http://locost7.info/files/chassis/kitcaranalysis_V2.doc
Basically add triangulation and weld in some metal on the transimission tunnel and front lower frame.
The chassis will easily handle the power, weights the killer.

Many thanks for your replies. Will keep you guys posted.
One more question since this will be the 3rd time I am rebuilding the chassis and since I had to make various holes on the chassis throughout the
years in order to fot various panels, and parts, will these affect the structural strength of the chassis by a significant amount? Or I should not be
worried about that too much?
