Need help identifying Zetec Silvertop Cams

Hi all,

I'm planning on slightly upgrading my 1.8 silvertop zetec, (115 bhp),
my goal is at least the 130BHP spec.

What I've done so far is installing the 2.0TB, and a Piper panelfilter.

The parts I already have, but are to be installed:

Stainless steel exhaust manifold
Full stainless steel exhaust

I also have the cams, which are supposed to come out of a 2ltr silvertop engine,
but I'm not able to identify them as such.

So if anyone could help me out with this, I would be very pleased.

One has stamped 938A and the other has 958A stamped on it.
Online they're also reffering to these numbers but with an M instead of an A.

And the layout doesn't look like anything I've found so far.

I found this http://ford-force.forumotion.com/t49...identification

and this http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3...ft%20Types.pdf

But can't make anything up out of it.

The exhaust cam in this thread seems the same as mine

http://ford-force.forumotion.com/t52...etec-camshafts

What I got with the identification rings is

1-1011 and
1-1101

But how reliable are these numbers, as Ford is know for their randomness in parts and numbers?
And having these, what type of cams do the refer to?

Measuring the camlobes i got the measurements:

Cam 1 Cam 2

44,7 43,5
44,9 43,8
44,9 43,7
44,6 43,6
44,7 43,8
44,9 43,8
44,8 43,9
44,6 43,6

Hope someone can finally help me on identifying these.

Even went to a local Ford-dealer and they couldn't help me.

Can you measure the actual cam lift cam peak minus base circle? Might help compare to some 2 litre cams I have

I tried to measure them as good as I could, with vernier calipers,

and for cam 1 I got ca. 14.65mm and for the other cam I got 13.75.

About the HO-inlet I'm in doubt, I've got some other parts here waiting to be installed.
Would it be a big upgrade?

try this.........I posted it on the WSSC forum over 10 years ago !!!

It may or may not help??? Or even confuse you even more............

The correct way to ID the cams you have is using the method Ford itself uses for ID of the cam castings.
I'll try to explain:
Each cam is given a cast ring code which is used at the factory to enable the machines to identify which cam is being ground. The cams are ground in batches, and the machines are able to self adjust for each batch.
With your cam sitting in front of you, and the oil seal diameter to your left identify the following:
To the left of the pair of lobes for No1 cylinder should be rough cast daimeter. This diameter may or may not contain a rough cast concentric ring. If it does it is signified by a 1 if not it is signified by a 0.
Moving onto pair of lobes of No2 cylinder the rough cast diameter will have no cast concentric rings for any cam. This is signified by a dash -.
Onto No3 lobes. The area to the left can contain up to two concentric cast rings. Working from left to right in this area.
No rings = the code 00
1 ring to the left of this area = the code 10
1 ring to the right of this area = the code 01
Two rings in this area = the code 11.

With me ?

Onto the last pair of lobes for cylinder No4:
Same as No3, ie. The area to the left can contain up to two concentric cast rings. Working from left to right in this area.
No rings = the code 00
1 ring to the left of this area = the code 10
1 ring to the right of this area = the code 01
Two rings in this area = the code 11.

So for upto a 95 Model year engine
inlet 1.8 (130ps) and 2.0(140ps) camshaft code will be:
0-1010
exhaust 1.8 (130ps) and 2.0(140ps) camshaft code will be:
0-1100
So for upto a 98 Model year engine
inlet 1.8 (130ps) and 2.0(140ps) camshaft code will be:
0-0011
ex 1.8 (130ps) and 2.0(140ps) camshaft code will be:
1-0010

Thanks,

I already did, see my first post.

And what i got, looking at my cam profile was

1-1011 and 1-1101.

So this one, 1-1011 would be an 130/136 inlet.

But how about the other one.
