Wideband Lambda wiring

I just got my wideband sensor controller / gauge.

All the diagrams I have show the heater element in the sensor wired to a switched live.

But.

The info in the pack says to wire it to a source live only when the engine is running.

Its not going to be a problem to wire it to the fuel pump relay, just wondered how others have done it, and could water vapor in a cold engine really damage a hot sensor? the reason given for wiring it to the relay.

ETA its a standard bosch sensor.

That's how I've done it the meggasquirt controls fuel pump relay.

Regarding water/condensation in exhaust damaging the sensor apparently it can, which is why sensors are mounted at the top of the pipe so it drains from sensor

Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

i not wired, but i will wire to ignition, i not leave ignition without purpose...

dont think will be so much water/wapor in lambda position (pipe), all water gather can / muffler , or lowest point

I am wiring my megasquirt and engine sensors to an IGN switched relay and then my wideband and fuel pump to a megasquirt fuel pump switched relay. Each output after the relays on its own fuse.

Cheers
