ebay banner adverts
I have quite a fast internet connection and other websites are not a problem in terms of download speeds, but every time I use e-bay each page hangs
for a few seconds and it seems to be associated with it waiting for some of the banner adverts to pop up. I assume that its got something to do with
the speed of the servers where the banners originate, but I'm no expert.
I know that I can change my advertising preferences, but is there any way to completely stop the advertising banners popping up every time I go to a
new e-bay page? I'm not optimistic as I guess that e-bay makes money from them.

try a different browser.
I find both chrome or firefox are better for this than edge
can you try this test, (in each browser)
http://ipv6-test.com/
see what it says - particularly the browser fallback result.

Ebay and the like are paid to run these scripts (data mining) they analyss what you search for, your shopping habits and target you with ads which are
deemed relevant.
Some browsers deal with them better than others, IE is about the worse, safari on ios is pretty good.

If you want to know who exactly is to blame, download the Yslow Chrome extension. That breaks the page down and tells you what part is slow. Then you
could engage in a polite email exchange with the supplier on the merits and benefits of speedy advertising and the improvement in sales that they may
get.
Or you could download and use AdBlock, and just get rid of them completely.

Thanks, I've just installed Adblock Plus and e-bay is useable again. It makes a massive difference to the page download speed. BTW I'm
using IE11.

The link is add blocker
I don't know if it makes a difference but I'm using IE11 and I installed the adblocker via IE by
I) going to tools (the little cog icon)
ii)click on 'manage add ons'
iii) Under the 'tools and extensions' tab you should see a link to the ad-blocker website and you can install it from there.
Its probably the same as just finding it on Google and going from there, but the above is how I did it and it just ran automatically in the background
when I installed it.
