Gearbox serial number

On the V627 (Built-up inspection) form there is a column for Serial/ID number. Obviously that applies to chassis and engine, and presumably not for axle/steering/suspension, but what about transmission - which I assume means gearbox? . I have got a Type 9 and there is a number on it, but I'm not sure if it is just a casting number (i.e. not unique).

Anyone know:

a) is it a serial number?

b) does it matter for the form anyway?

Cheers

I never entered any serial numbers for anything other than the engine, and I had no probs.

Big cheers
Michael
