1.6 Manifold > 1.8 head?

Does anyone know if a 1.6 escort zetec manifold (silvertop) will fit a 1.8 zetec (Mondeo) head?
I thought they were all the same but I'm getting different opinions on it from different people

Can anyone say for sure and save me from spending my hard earned pennies to find out?

Cheers
Alex

Possibly as long as the 1.6 is not the 1.6 SE

By the 16se do you mean the fiesta engine? Was it also used in the escort?

The part i am looking at buying is reportedly from a 1.6 escort (mid 90's), which I used to think was the same head casting as the 1.8 and 2.0 zetec unit, not sure any more ?

I am sure the manifolds are the same fitment.

The 2L and 1.8 are the same on both the silver and black top engines for both inlet and exhaust. ( think the black top has diferant port shapes).

If you look at Burton powers web site they only list escort/orion/fiesta OR Mondeo as the fitment for inlet, and only one for the exhaust gasket. Give them a ring they will tell you 100%

Infact the zetec even shares its port spacings with the old 1.6 cvh as fited to xr2/3 ect and the manifuld bolts on with an adapter

But this is just my opinion and I may be wrong so please check before spending your money

It will physicaly fit, but I am fairly sure that the ports are smaller in the 1.6 manifold.

Good enough I reckon, so long as it bolts on I can weld/machine it to suit

Sorry for the delay in reply but the SE is a totally different engine to the E. The SE has the inlet/exhaust ports on the same side as the Pinto and no parts are supposed to be interchangeable with the E.
However, I'm not sure why you would want to put the 1.6 manifold onto the larger engine as it does restrict the flow and the usual change is to put 1.8/2.0 onto the 1.6.
