EDIS and Coil Pack from 1.6l Zetec
Hi
Can we use the Edis Unit, Coil Pack, Crank Sensor and TPS from our donor 1.6l Zetec?
It will be to go with the Megajolt LJ.
Thanks
Andy

Was it an automatic then ?
If so The crank position sensor housing will mean the sensor wont line up with a manual fly wheel.
See LINK
I say this as I am sure the only zetec with and edis4 was the automatic.

I was wondering that, I thought EDIS was only fitted to auto Mondeos ?
I can't remember seeing a 1.6 auto mondeo...

No it's not an automatic. Will this mean I have to source the other bits from escort, orions, fiesta's.

Also, in relation to the flywheel. I have been reading about the Crank Sensor. Most have said that you use a triggerwheel on the crank wheel pulling
to get the Crank Position. From what your saying above it sounds as though you can still use the flywheel for this. Si this true?

You can use the zetec sensor and the flywheel to feed the ecu.(very easy). You will then need to mix and match the clutch.
Another option would be to use the full flywheel and clutch aswell as gearbox from a cvh 1.8 sierra and then run a trigger wheel on the front
pully.
No right or wrong, what ever works for you with the bits you have.
Cheaper option than the mj ecu would be the ford esc ecu if running carbs

Cheers Warren. So what would be the setup then from the escort ECU. Just use this and there would be no need to use mj?? Whats needed from the
Escort....all main ECU stuff???

The only hardware you will need from your Zetec is the coil pack and vr sensor and temp sensor.
The ESC and loom comes from another donor (will try and find details of which) Its almost plug and play.
Would point out that it is set and can not be altered. And will give limited performance as ignition only.
Plenty for the 1.6 zetec me thinks. and very lo-cost

Here is a wiring diagram.

Cheers again Warren.
Got some GSXR Carbs from eBay. Should be arriving soon. Just got to source a Manifold now. If we go with the megajolt and Edis4 stuff, you think we
will get more performance??
If so, I think we shall do this instead of the escort ECU.

Warren. Was just looking at your photo archive and you look to have bike carbs on one of your zetecs. Who did your inlet manifold or where did you get
it from.

Did have bike carbs and megajolt but got ofered a full and mint set of 45's and a Dunnell Engines ecu for a fair price. I fell in love withe the
factory race look and sold the bike carbs on.
Bike carbs and megajolt will give good performance even on your 1.6. But will still cost the thick end of £400. Which is a lot to put into a 1.6.
Unless you can do the job yourself that is
