edis/coil pack/vr sensor testing

is there a simple way to test each one of these in isolation or fitted together?

I believe that sticking the your tongue into the end of the HT lead whilst holding the engine and getting someone to crank it over will give a pretty good indication that your getting a spark.

There's not too much you can find out with a multimeter really, you'd get a lot more useful info if you have access to a scope and also some way of measuring the coils impedances. With an o/scope you can check the waveform on the VR sensor as you turn the engine over on the starter, and also scope both the PIP and the coil output from the EDIS unit to make sure they're there and that the coil output corresponds to the default 10deg advance without any SAW input. But it'll usually turn out to be something simpler that's causing the problem

and

even if you all do that,

you will need to compare your result with a working setup to be able to judge something...

I've bought the kaboodle but not received it yet so when it arrives, I'd like to test it if possible.

There should be a way to trigger the coils to spark in isolation to the EDIS unit and with a toother metal disc spinning on a drill, be possible to test the VR and maybe the EDIS too.
