Emerald ECU and Racetech Tacho

Hi all,

I've got my Emerald connected up to a racetech tacho, but there is nothing showing on the dial. Does anyone know if there is any additional wiring that needs to be done for a Racetech gauge - and is there any way I can test the output of the ECU?

Cheers, James

Not sure about the Emerald ecu but my MBE only shows engine sensors, injector timings etc on the laptop so no dash functions except for revs, pressures and temps

On my VEMs you can select one of the Auxillary a chanels to give a pulse to the tacho.

The software then lets you configure that channel and what you are going to do with it.

You can then connect that channel to the Tacho

Not used in my install (yet !! but its on the to-do list) cuttecntly I still have the tacho driven direct from the Dizzie.

The Emerald has a specific tacho output, but the tacho is not working so I was wondering if anyone had come across this before?

I had trouble with the MBE tacho output - it was so noisy my Evodash had a fit! I eventually connected to the coilpack which worked a treat.

You can enable/disable and double the tacho output on the Events screen. I believe they call it the "Tacho Driver". See if any of those make any difference. Only other way I can think of would be to oscilloscope the lead. I presume the Racetech tacho also has a way of programming for 4/6/8 cyls etc. Best check that is set properly too.

I'm using an old smiths tacho from a Dolomite sprint and the Emerald drives it no problems... Old and new working in harmony!
