throttle body question

question about zxr 600 throttle bodies although I suspect a lot of them are like this.

the bodies are circular at the air box end with round discs but at the manifold end the opening is an oval with a semi-circular cut out for the injector - in otherwords the opening is not corcular.

now is the manfold the same shape?

I thnk the TB connect to manifold using circular tube so there will be a mismatch in the openings - or is the connector shaped to smooth out the transistion from TB to inlet? (hope that makes sense).
