I haven't got a specific picture but my solution was just to get a sheet of black fine mesh from B+Q and after giving it a clean in solvent spray it black.
To secure it I just laid the nosecone nose down (on a sheet), put the mesh in place and dribbled blobs of araldite epoxy which gripped onto the back of the nosecone nicely and holds the grill in place.
I know other people have glued wooden blocks onto the back of the nosecone and then used screws to hold the grill in place....

here you go, as seen from the inside.

mesh is "shopping trolley" size, held o=in place by cable ties to some epoxied nuts, not the most elegant solution but works.

not wishing to diss anyone using B&Q mesh but that is not proper wire mesh but expanded mesh; wire mesh is better looking.

If I were to do it all over again, I'd think about making an eggbox mesh.

See my avatar.

Unfortunately that one vibrated to death. It was soft soldered bronze, later painted black and metalic-red. Looked ace.

Will do the same again in tig'd welding rod with a little more bracing when I can be arsed.

I got some fine ally mesh from B&Q, cut it to size and it is secured by small loops of locking wire which are nearly invisible...

Also stainless mesh but set diagonally.

I had some door edge U trim round the opening, fibreglassed some bolts inside then fixed the mesh with nylocs

My son made this grille using 1/8" stainless steel wire fused together with MIG. He made a simple jig from wood and nails to locate the lengths of stainless and just tacked them with the MIG. Simple and very easy to do.

Bars or mesh? Mesh or bars?

I couldn't make my mind up.

Yup.

I had a spare 6 months and anyway, I can't paint.

I even get runs using garage floor paint.
