Bike TB's - anyone done this for the linkage?...
Hi All,
I've been pondering the throttle linkage on my spaced GSXR600 TBs for a while now....After building them up on the spacers I figured a very
simple solution is to actually bend the linkage
Pic
Has anyone done this before?...I know the norm is to extend the linkage, but this seems to work perfectly well..........

Seen that done loads of times. Did you take the linkages off to bend them? Risking a bent throttle spindle if not.

I can remember reading something by Dave Walker (he runs a rolling road) in PPC about this. His thoughts were that it was very difficult to ballance
the throttle bodies when the linkage was bent.
I would imagine that it is hard to insure that the throttles also open evenly. Having said all of this, if it was done carefully then i imagine it
would be ok.

I didn't - However, after removing the spindal from the spare set of butterflies, there was no way it would bend...saying that, I was very
careful to suppport the linkage while bending....And there was me thinking I had discovered a new way of doing it
I'm not sure why DW would think it's any different to balance these as appose to a normal linkage, it works in exactly the same way - I
set them so each butterfly was just closed, then measured the open angle at full throttle - all exactly the same....I'll reserve judgement until
everything is up and running, but I think it's worth a punt......

I think his point was that some people who have used this method have been less than careful when doing it. But sounds like you have been careful, so
i wouldn't worry about it.

Thats fair enough - I can see that if it's not done correctly, the adjustment screws would not work (due to the springs binding).....Well,
I'll give it a go for now and see what happens....If not it's back to plan A....
