roughly tuning DHLAs
got my 45s on the car, they were originally off a 2.1 pinto then ran on a redtop and now back on a 2.1 pinto so the jets etc should be reasonable.
They will be getting setup properly but I want to get it running reasonably well to check a few things out first.
At the minute the car will run but Im getting a good bit of popping and banging and the odd flame spat out the carb trumpet.
being able to tame them a little would be excellent.
cheers.

no you don't. tune by ear.
mess round with the two screws until the exhaust note sounds even.
The way the books tell you to do it is to listen to the air flow in each carb but I find that is quite hard to do.
Also as you get closder to balance, the enigne shakes less.

that is usually symptom of air leak. if you have separate 0-rings on the insulators and using thackery washers, make sure the rings are in place -
they can drop if the nuts are not done up tight.

Check all the jets (particular idle jet) are clear and screwed down then Synch the throttle butterflys by ear, this is easy and very acurate.
