Testing

Video of testing my brakes (rebuilt M16 calipers) and gearchange (new and stronger brackets) yesterday at Kames, still not quite right but good fun anyway. I need to get some new tyres before I go out again, these are just spinning up whenever I step hard on the gas and the brakes were far too easy to lock up.

Some dodgy corners there Duncan - a couple of times I thought you had lost it to the grass! It's a quick car - what engine have you got under there? GSXR?

The film is just a sony cypershot DSC-P12 digital camera in video mode mounted on a home made bracket on the roll bar diagonal. I was very pleased with the result (and the fact that the camera didn't fall off). The original mpeg file is much better than the you tube version but is about 20MB/minute.

The first run was a real brown trouser moment, after the third time it kicked back I was convinced I wouldn't get it back but all you can do is keep trying.

The engine is a carbed R1, when testing last year it was leaning out at the top end but drilling out a couple of thou on the main jets has cured that, the car is very minimalist and although I haven't weighed it yet should be well under 400Kg. with an English axle and a 3.89 diff it is very short geared and quick to accelerate.
