Have a look on extraefi,co.uk. Theres all the info you will need and some maps to download.
What is the problem with it now?

Hate to sound like a broken record, but if you are intending on copying a map, then you need to think seriously at all the other variables.......Two
identical engines could have totally different maps dependent on other settings (like req fuel)........
Just use the standard map, get the car started, then set some VE numbers from just reving the car gently on the drive............Then go from there -
Assume you have a wideband set up.

well all the edis gear is going back to warren tomorrow to be tested. MS is still not getting any RPM signal from the vr sensor, i have used three
different sensors that have been proven to work. i have reset the MS to its basic configuration and gone through both edis set ups on the MS manuals
site and the extraefi site (and there do seem to be a few contradictions between the two)
i really am starting to get disheartened. the only other thing i can think of is that the trigger wheel has something to do with why im not getting a
strong enough signal? could it be that the depths of the grooves may not be deep enough? i really am just clutching at straws here
i have the innovate lc-1 wideband lambda kit which is installed but with the engine not even running yet i have disconnected the power from it.

Do you get a spark at all if turning over with the plugs out?.If not it is a problem with the edis set up as it will spark without the fuel ecu if set
up correctly.
Trigger wheel should be ok its not critical what tooth depth as long as its more than about 5mm it should be fine.
As long as you are supplying it with 12v , earth and a good crank sensor signal of the correct polarity it should spark.I assume that you have tried
swapping the sensor leads over as it is polarity sensitive?

i dont get any spark what so ever, i dont think that the signal generated is strong enough. tried switching the wires but nothing happens! i have
another edis module on route to me to eliminate the possiblity of a duff edis, but i was given it from graeme (graememk) who assures me it is a
working unit.

What Version MS are you using?....
Is it MSII extra?....V3.57?....V3.0?
Anyway, I may be able to help.....First off, EDIS is extreemly reliable, and has the added advantage of limp home should somthing
happen......I've tried both VB921 drivers, and EDis, and think EDIS is much better...
Anyway........It could be an issue with the internal mods required for EDIS - There are two ways of configuring the opto-isolator circuit, and the
information on the websites and documentation is not clear - plus, depending on which you have done, the trigger will need setting differently in the
software.
So, first question is....Have you done any of the internal jumper mods?....If not, this could be the reason.

i sent my megasquirt back to phil @ extra efi and he did all the internal mods for me, as im no wiz with electronic circuitry.
im running MS 1,V3

I've just read on 1 of the other posts that it doesn't spark at all and your questioning the signal its getting from the CPS.
Does your rev-counter run from the MS.. is that showing anything whilst cranking?
Does the rev counter on the laptop show anything?
There is also another tuning program called Megatunix, in this there is a trigger wheel logger where you can see the signal being recieved and how it
spikes when the teeth pass and the gap comes round.
The should atleast tell you if the MS is recieveing the signal in the first place.

Its running megasquirt and Edis so i dont think the trigger logger will work as it should spark on just the edis system alone.

Sounds like the first step is to understand if the ECU is actually seeing a PIP signal?.....
As the set up is so simple, it's a case of measuring the signal on the PIP...If thats ok, then look at SAW - Alas, it would really help to have
a scope at this point....
But this will narrow down where the problem is.....EDIS / ECU

the failsafe mode with 10 degrees fixed advance.

A good point...I think what I'm trying to say is....is the ECU seeing a PIP signal?....If it is, then the assumption is that EDIS is wired
correctly, and the ECU is not processing the signal, and sending out an 'Advanced SAW' signal - So, look at EDIS into the ECU, then look
at SAW out.....If the fault can be traced to either EDIS / VR sensor / or indeed the ECU, then it will make life easier.....

OK, after reading through the problem again, I fully agree with 'other Paul' - We should see see a spark even without MS plugged in....
So, standard checks (that I'm sure you have done...But what the hey....
First of gap between trigger wheel and VR sensor...is this set to around 1mm?.
Cable from VR - Have you used screened cable to EDIS?.....
Do you have a 12v on the middle pin of the coil pack when you turn ignition?...
Ditto, 12 v on edis.......
Are you 100% sure EDIS was wired up from the correct end - I have been confused by this in the past - i.e. you are 100% pin 1 really is pin 1.
Are you sure your ignition leads / plugs are all ok?......
What is the resistance across the coil packs - should be low (IRO 1-3 ohms).....
Will try and think of some more questions.

well the verdict is that although the wiring could do withe some work it is wired corect and does runs an engine at 10 deg btdc as it should.
Next step show us your trigger wheel setup ?
Does it have a 12v feed when cranking ?
