fuel or heat probs
coming back from a run on sunday,temps were gas mark 10 in the shade
a couple of time changing into 2nd the engine coughed and died like fuel starvation,back off the throttle and she would pick up again,also seemed to
have lost a fair amount of power.
took the plugs out today and they showed she was running rich.
bearing in mind how hot it may have got under the bonnet is it possible the high temps could have affected the ms ecu that lives under the bonnet?

High under bonnet temps will affect the MS, but the other way, it'll start going lean. The standard inlet air temp correction is far to
aggressive above about 50deg C, it starts taking lots of fuel out to compensate for the theoretical loss of air density. I used to have trouble sat in
traffic, I could watch the idle AFr creep up from 14 or so to 17/18, and it'd start hunting, then struggle to stay running.
I 'sorted' it in the end by moving the IAT sensor well away from the engine where it would stay reasonably cool, but it was a far from
ideal location. The OEM Bosch ECU for the engine managed fine where it was, just not MS

cheers for that,got GM stylie sensors from the USA,air sensor is in sausage air filter,ill look into moving it

I'll have to look at what temps ours has been running from a log I did on sunday.
Ours is inside the inlet trumpet so the air rushing past might cool it as apposed to the ambient temps creeping up where others have there's.

46.5 DegC and I think it reads a little high as its only a tiny little bead thermistor from Maplins
