strange revs problem
markyb - 28/5/12 at 06:42 PM

I was out on a run at the weekend but was getting erratic revs when the car was idling/sitting in traffic - sometimes it was near normal eg below 2000 rpm but other times it was as high as 6000. Once I started pushing the clutch pedal when the revs were high they would again drop back to normal idling levels

has anyone come across this before or have any idea how I could fix this

thanks in advance

Go on give us a little clue as to what engine you have, fuel system, ignition.....

thought I would try and draw out the suspense.............

03 R1 with foot clutch cable and barnett clutch plate installed with
fueling is managed via power commander

My first thoughts are straight to the throttle bodies/cables, then the idle control valve on the throttle bodies. One thing that might get you - check the TBs are actually clamped in properly.

thanks for the help - will check out the throttle bodies first as they were removed a while back

might also tighten the throttle return spring as a precaution
