sierra handbrake spring
JeffJeffers - 23/7/15 at 09:55 PM

I am trying to get 13" wheels to fit my MK Indy with Sierra rear calipers.

With the help of a grinder I have managed to get everything to fit except the handbrake spring.

I have read that I need a modified shortened handbrake spring but does anyone know where to get them from?

I did send him a message a couple of days ago but haven't had a response. So I thought he may have sold out.

If you look in my photo archive you will see how I solved this problem.

bit of a hijack but where did you get new ends for your cable?

That looks like a fairly good idea.
I take it the spring doesn't fully compress meaning the handbrake not working properly?

I think my cable end came from an AA man. He had a selection to fix cars on the side of the road.

Hi,

I stripped the cable down and fed the spring from the other end (handbrake lever) and rebuilt the cable, so the ends onto the caliper are the originals, the cable is too long so you have to shorten it anyway. It has been fitted like this for 5 years and 19,000 miles with never any problem.
