When the throttle pedal is fully released should the butterfly be totally closed in the throttle body or just slightly open.


Just getting ready to start the engine on MS for the first time.


Been off work for two days with man flu but starting to feel better so may push the car out of the garage tonight and try for a first time start up.

If fully closed the car won't start. They need to be partially open but most impartantly all set the same "balanced".

Depends if you have an idle control valve. If you have then the throttles can be completely closed as the required air for idling will come through the bypass, Otherwise it's like carbs and you need to let enough air past the butterflies for idle.

It depends greatly on the TB. Most will need to be fully closed, firmly against the stop. They should have an idle/bypass screw, if not then it'll have to be with the butterfly but this is uncommon on most set ups.
