wiring loom ecu and abs problem
hellbent345 - 1/3/09 at 09:12 PM

stripping my donor yesterday, came across large amount of special boxes etc, but one got me worried. the abs box. I am planning to use the original ecu for ease of installation but will there be problems if i take this abs box and associated wiring out of the equation? what should i do with this? also does anyone have a list of things needed for our cars so i know which parts of the loom to keep and which to throw away?
thanks al

I'd doubt it will be a problem unless the car has traction control as well " which is unlikely on this age of car".

it should be fine. if your not sure, run the engine in car and just unplug stuff. if the engine stops, youve gone too far!

haha sh*T i should have done that, instead i have taken the enigne out already.. crap. oh well we shall see, ill connect everything up to the engine and see if it works, then start unplugging things! i havent seen the enigne run at all yet.... but i do have 2 of them! lol

thanks al

If you take the loom out of the car, I think you will find that the ABS system is, (apart from the 12v supply), not connected into anything else, so it can be, (carefuly), removed from the loom. You may consider using the ABS pump on your build, this will work as a seperate unit and will give you power brakes, I have on mine and the brakes are dynamite. Cheers Ray

abs is seperate to the ecu nothing to worry about
