Low Brake fluid switch wiring
johhny5 - 17/5/09 at 01:16 PM

Hi, can anybody help with the wiring of the low level switch on the resovoirs,
I have the handbrake switch when activated to supply the neg to the display.
How do i wire 2 resovoir float switches to also show the display wehn the level is low???

Provide a 12v to the light, and then wire the switch so that it is between the light and an earth.

Yep as above feed the light with a switched 12v the run three wires from the light. Two to the low fluid switch and one to the hand brake. From the second pins on the low fluid switch conect both to the chassis.

The correct way to do this is to run and ign controlled feed to the light, then loop the outgoing wire to the resevoir and then to the handbrake switch.
The other side of the resevoir and handbrake switches are connected to earth.
The reason you wire it this way is that when you pull up your handbrake, you are "testing" that the wiring to the resevoir is in tact and that the lamp is working. If you use the quoted method, then if the resevoir circuit became detached, you would still get the brake warning light switching off and not on as it should when you have low fluid levels.
