Hi all,
Got a wierd problem with my fuel guage.
I've got a digidash 2 lite and I'm using the sender that came with it.
Basically, the reading on the guage (% remaining) never moves...
If you earth the connection from the sender, it goes up to 100%, and if you disconnect it, it drops and eventually the dash reads 'not
connected' so I think the dash is ok.
We tried a new sender, and again, the reading on the guage never changes once it's settled.
If you take the sender out of the tank and manually move the float up and down, the reading on the guage moves in various increments from 0-100%
exactly as you'd expect, so I'm sure the sender is working.
The float does float, and I'm fairly sure it's not getting stuck anywhere in the tank as there are no obstructions.
Looking at the range of movement and the arm on the sender, it should be reading fairly accurately and it's in the middle of the tank.
When we've taken the float out, we've earthed the base of the sender against the tank, so I think the tank is earthed ok.
Any ideas? It's just like the sender works out of the tank but not in the tank!?
Cheers!
Try running an earth wire from the sender plate to the chassis( or the battery), the rubber sealing washer is probably isolating the plate from the tank.
Just tried that and it's still not changing the reading at all :-(
Went to Tescos, reading 54%, filled up (well, tried to!)... 54%.. Drove it about.... 54%. Hmmm.
If you are sure that the sender is OK (which presumbaly you have checked by moving the arm with it (properly) connected to the dash and earth) (and
12v if it needs it), then the problem is somewhere else, and you need to start checking the wiring between the two items
