reversing light?

i've got one of these

its e-marked, on'y about an inch long, 3 leds in it, is there any reason i can't use one as a reversing light?

e-marking is irrelevant - it's e-marked as a number plate lamp, not a reverse lamp.

However, IVA (nor SVA) has any requirement for e-marking, all you need to do is comply with the following:

They must emit white light.

They must be positioned to face the rear
5.
They must operate by selection of reverse gear, or be fitted with a telltale warning device.

i'd searched through the IVA and hoped i wasn't missing anything.

so nothing about minimum or maximum sizes which is good.

as for emarking, its only e-marked as a lamp surely? i wouldn't think its e-marked specifically as a number plate lamp? i wouldn't say its particularly good as a number plate lamp lol i tried it and it was rubbish

No, there are diferent Regulations for every lamp type specifying different colour, luminous intensity, beam angle etc. Part of the e-number on the lens tells you which Regulation is was approved to.

they sure do. minimum number of 1 lamp. and mandatory.

no mention of needing to be e-marked though. mine emits white light, will face the rear, and will work off the gearbox. so looking good i think
