Where to put side repeaters?

Where have most people put them? On the scuttle, or on the sides of the car lower down?

I didn't actually think they were needed for SVA, but the tester asked for them when I have my retest.

One thing i will say is make sure they're not near the exhaust.

Mine melted on the first long run, and they were about seven inches away!

Put them in the wings rather than in the scuttle.

It might only be once or twice that you remove your scuttle to do improvements/repairs etc but it will get on your nerves having them on there...

i put mine here and really wish i hadnt as they are just above where my feet are and every now and again i catch the bulb holder/wiring with the loud pedal foot so i would suggest higher ie scuttle or forward ie engine bay

I remembered something jpindy3 wrote reference the IVA failure report (he has now passed- lucky sod ) and If you look under sva / iva there is a thread there entitled'''

"I DIDN'T PASS IVA"

and in it he said: -

"i will make a list,the side repeters have to be mounted on the front wings, panal under the dash is not needed,you need to list the waight and make of the car on the chisis number plate,a sticker showing what brake fluid it takes,
thats some of the changes made,i will do a list "

Obviously, relevant to your question - side repeaters ARE needed for the IVA and they need to be mounted on the wings.

I'll email him and ask him to clarify this point on here.

We put ours on the side of the scuttle, using connectors to join them. To date we've never had to remove the scuttle to repair anything but only need to uncouple them if we ever do. Keeps them out of the way of anything else.

hi there,

right i failed on a cupple points one being the side repaters were mounted on the scuttle,so i asked where is best to mount them
the tester said on the front wings,so as i had already made the holes in the scuttle i didnt want to make more holes in the wings,so i asked him if i could serface mount the cables and get a repeater that was sick on,so you can do all that as long as the wires are secure your ok,
i got the sikey indecators from demon tweeks from the bike catalog i think thay were a tener,
now if you have already mounted some repeaters in the wrong place you can keep them there as long as you disconet them and mount some on the front wing you will be fine,
my stikey indcartors are already filed away never to be seen again,and i reconeted the ones on the scuttle.

Noooooooo! We all want to know the answers to IVA questions, they aren't secret are they? Open a new topic in SVA/IVA section so we can all read them. Please!

Is this just a suggestion by the tester rather than a mandatory requirement?
