Bad Earth I think?
Nash - 20/6/09 at 11:31 PM

All,
I took delivery of the Indy today and on getting it home I charged the battery, connected it up and on turning the key I got ignition lights but on engaging the starter I got nothing. No click, ignition lights went out. I'm thinking Bad earth?

I will be going through the whole wiring circuit but if anyone knows any obvious tips about the described issue I would appreaciate a heads up.

Regards..........Neil

i'd try jump starting it first. reason being it might be the battery. had a similar thing on the bmw. battery was duff. or you might not have given enough time to charge if its only been today

What engine is it mate (I'm guessing it's mentioned in a previous thread?)

Sounds like battery, but check all earths too. (especially the start motor one)

And the battery positive connection too.

My donor came with a duff battery and even after being on charge for 5 hrs, it still wouldnt turn over. Had to jump start it each time.

light going dimming a bit is expected but going out indicates the b attery is struggling to supply power.

you should be able to hear the solenoid click.

if you have a multimeter, measrue battery voltage.

should be 12.5 or more when charged.

and it is worth checking that the high power connections are cleaned and sound - remove them, rub until shiny with 600 wet 'n' dry and replace.

it is possible the seller stuck in a duff battery prior to pick up - I had rhis done with my Z1000.

Another for checking battery but also check that the engine and chassis are earthed to the battery too. That stopped me once or twice.
