Can anyone tell me what year it became compulsory for cars to have Hazard Lights?

Cheers.

Thanks for the replys.
I asked on another forum and a MOT Tester posted this...........

quote:

Vehicles first used prior to 01/04/1986 although not legally required to be fitted with hazard warning lamps, must have correctly functioning lamps if they are fitted.

Which is nice!

mot time on an older car is it?

ooh, i remember someone had a similar question about 2 months ago. hazards weren't working, think it was decided you didn't need them, but if fitted they had to work, so tuck the switch out the way somewhere

Not just yet, the BEC I'm (re)building is based on a Mk1 Scamp and tax exempt.
