rallyingden - 22/9/09 at 03:08 PM

I have done a search but cannot find one but don't mind being proved wrong.......

Is there a list of the maximum legal wattage for car lights.

Side
tail
dip
Main
Stop
Indicator
Repeater
rear Fog
front fog
Reverse

and any I've forgotten

Cheers

5
5
55
65
21
21 (front and back)
5 (repeater)
21
NA
NA

Main and dip are questionable as some aftermarkets are 120w plus though maybe not legal.

Front fogs dont have a limit. But are usually 55/65

Reversing are usually 21W (same as Fog) but can be whatever you like AFAIK

More than 21w white light to the rear is illegal.

ie No Spot lights as reversing lights.
I nearly got done for that many years ago!

You might get away with it on a pickup or a van as a "loading light", but you wuold be on dodgy ground.

Front Dip 55w
Front Main 65w

Other bulbs are available but are not road legal and are sold as off road/show use only.

Damn I was just thinking of that then!
Mind you a "loading light" wouldn't be wired in to the reverse, and mostly pointing downwards
