Alternator Bracket

Hi Matt
Photos of my alternator bracket, I may need to get a smaller alternator and reposition it under the water pump as its present position is right next to exhaust

Not sure if you have enough 'bite'
on the waterpump there Paul.

never been on road yet, still building, I have ran engine for about 30mins 3 times revving to about 4000rpm to check things out. Cooling seems ok but will have to wait for a long road run to be sure.
As this is my 1st build I have alot to learn so any opinions are welcome

Get some longer bolts for the alternator, i dont think theyre long enough

Good effort. As you say, you might need to protect the alternator from the heat of the exhaust. Will it not go on the other side or higher up?

that means nothing. engine effort to spin over at 4,000 rpm is much less than pushing the car forwards at 40 mph.

the overlap on the water pump looks much too small - I wouldn't want to risk cooking an engine.

lifting alternator would help - need to look at piccy again.

have you considered a smaller alternator?

I can measure up a denso - pretty sure that is not as long. bear in mond the regulator and other electronic components sit at the rear wchih will be closest to the hot exhaust - not a happy situation.

find out how other peeps have addressed this problem.
