Wiring Temperature and Rev
speedyxjs - 8/10/09 at 10:14 AM

I have one of these:

and im having trouble wiring up the temperature and rev counter.

The instructions say for the temperature to connect to the negative. I have connected it to the negative wire going to the sender.

For the revs, it says to connect it to the positive or negative on the coil. I have connected it to the positive and set the dash up accordingly.

Im obviously doing something wrong, has anyone else got one of these wired up correctly?

Hi,

I also use one of the Koso dash's, the water temp came with a sender unit and a harness which has 2 wires in it, this sender I put into a holder and it works fine.
The tacho I used the supplied wire and wrapped it around my No1 plug lead, again it works well.

You should use the negative on the coil. The positive connection is a permanent 12v, the negative is switched each time a spark is required so that's where your signal comes from. In theory you might sense some tiny voltage fluctuations at the positive terminal but I've never heard of any system doing that.
