Anyone running a kubota alternator
rallyingden - 12/10/09 at 06:43 PM

Hi just bought one for my build ....nice and small BUT

I was sent wiring diagrams but cannot understand two things

1 What is the load that the key switch is switching surley not ignition driven items

2 What is the load connected to P

See wiring diagram

I am running one.

there are a variety of regulators - search on here, Flakmonkey posted link to Aus website.

what are the letters on the contacts - can you post photo of the connectors?

It has a built in 12V reg

that digram is misleading - the "load" should be battery.

this is how I wired mine,

L goes to lamp and other side of lamp goes to 12 V

I or IG is connectedto 12 V via ignition switch.

I don't have P but again suspect that goes to 12 V - see "load" above. (is G below)

here is one I found earlier, letters are different but meaning should be the same - best confirm P though.

That looks like mine [from a Kubota tractor]:

Nippon alternator
Nippon alternator

If so, 'IG' needs to be switched to become live when the ignition is on and 'L' lights the ignition lamp. However 'L' won't power a bulb as it only supplies a low current signal when the alternator isn't turning.

I use a transistor connected to L to switch the supply to an LED on my Acewell dash to give an ignition light.

'B' goes to the battery.

I fiddled about for ages before I got this to work but it is actually quite easy.

If you want any more info let me know.

I just put a battery charge gauge on to tell me charging rate

Where is your terminal P conected to

According to the info I have a bulb no more than 3.4Watts will work off the L terminal.

Cheers

mine is indentical but for the connector.

I have LED lamp and a resistor in parallel, to "up" the current as for a small bulb. and it works fine.
