evening all, has anyone come up with a way of controlling the speed of a bike starter motor for safer reverse parking???

just use a resistive load or lower voltage to turn the motor. As long as you have 12V to fire the solenoid, you can reduce the voltage to the motor. Youll lose torque though, so im not sure this will work too well. Maybe best to change the gearing?

You would need one enormous resistor if you wanted to do it that way... and bugger all torque!

I would suggest you look at gearing first to make the most of the torque, and then if you want perfect control of the speed with NO loss of torque... google schematics for pulse width modulation speed controlers (PWM) there were loads when I looked last time...

just drive into the spaces...

Use the brake, just like driving an auto. Don't completely stall the motor though.
