Iv just taken the alternator off the car in an attempt to find out why it wont work. It turns out, one of the connections was really loose and it
broke off as i was undoing it
Also, the condensor? screw snapped so im looking for somewhere i can send it to that might be able to recondition/repair it.
Have you not got one of those cheap shops locally that do alternators?
There are loads in Leeds and they tested and rebuilt mine for £10.
I dont know of one but il ask a lecturers at college tomorrow if necessary. £10 is much cheaper than i thought though
I think theres a place in Ringwood road that repair starters and alternators - could be worth a look.
Ben
You do not need the huge thing that came with the jag, nothing to power up in the locost world get a recon cheap lucas job from Ebay for £25.
You could try soldering a tail on the shiney bits first

connector ???? description is not very informatative - condenser - yes, that'll be suppressor - not necessary.
what alternator is it?
check ebay - there is some seller selling bits for lucas and others. you need to identify make/model first.
alternative is to fit a different working alternator - probsd £ 20 from scrappies or from ebay.
things to look ut are:
- lugs on body in same position although you can always make a bracket
- spindle same diamteer so you can fit same type of pulley

Thanks for the replys. I have been told of a place in tonbridge that recon them pretty cheap. Looking for a replacement will be pretty difficult as they only made the early 3.6 with v pulley for a few years.
Guess the place in Eastbournes closed then?
