been looking into putting audio in the 7 when it gets finnished, thought i'd find out where you guys have fitted speakers if you have a sound system, i know some will say you don't need a system, or that you won't here it, but i fancy a nice sysem, been looking at the "wakeboard tower speaker systems", they come with a clamp to mount them to the roll bar, and are marine waterproof, didn't know all the big car audio makers made marine waterproof stuff, like amps, speakers, and head units, so being that its marine waterproof it would be more than ok for the 7.

You really wont hear it.... people arnt kidding


I fitted 6 massive speakers in the TVR and unless you are sat still in a carpark they are all but useless!

Save the weight and buy a nice set of headphones!

these come with different sized clamps depending on your roll bar size, from about 1.5" upto 2.5", this is also just to show the idea, some mount so the speakers sit further back so as not to poke to far forward of the roll cage.

You already have a sound system installed...its volume is controlled by your right foot.

Seriously you have to use earplugs in these cars if you want to preserve your hearing. As for a radio you are really not going to hear it.

If you want a soundtrack graham just uses his mp3 player.

Take a ride with a seven and see....wind and induction noise coupled with exhaust note you are toiling.

Save the money and buy a decent intercom set with rally style headphones if you have a screen, and plug in the 'pod. if no screen, use same intercom but fit headset to skidlid - its the only way you are going to hear anything at any speed without looking/sounding like a tit.

Picture the scene - nice 7 arrives, engine purring nicely, just the sound of octane... or music arrives before car (its the only volume YOU will hear it at) everyone thinks WTF is that - a gangsta?) and then a little seven comes round the corner. It just doesn't work...

My car noise tested at 110dBa.
- You can just about talk with the passenger but not comfortably.

I have now got a new exhaust in the living room as it was also too loud for trackdays. But as said en tho im a very music-based person (its never off in the tintop) ive never found a need for it in the seven.

I have mounted a radio/MP3 player into my car and have coupled it up to a guitar pocket amp which then goes to headphones, it works and keeps me happy on trips.

Fitted a radio/CD player to mine, it was so bloody useless that I ripped it all out and fitted a new dash. Total waste of time in my opinion, just listen to that engine, what better tune could you have, Cheers Ray

I'm a wakeskater and I've been on boats fitted with larger systems than the one shown above. They're mint to listen to music while youre 20ft behind the boat, but rubbish when youre onboard!

They seem designed to project music out to the boarder/skiier so in a car situation you'll end up blasting onlookers in front of you with a wall of sound before revving past them, while you listen to some distorted warbling .

As suggested by Mr Hignett, I installed a ciggy lighter for the ancilliaries like ipods and that. I don't have room for speakers. I wouldn't hear them at idle though.

Viper engine + short exhaust + ear plugs = no chance to hear music.

Anything that drowns that lot out is plain dangerous as you'll never hear whats going on around you. Car horns, Sirens, etc etc.

Sorry mate, got to agree with all the above. I would love to fit a sound system to mine but am going to have to stick to headphones under the helmet.

MP3 and intercom is the best option, I use a starcom1, nice bit of kit just a little pricey.

you can hear te system up to aboult 70mph. fit a jack plug in line and use an earphone. The sound of the exhaust is a good sound but can become a little annoying when youve heard it for 3 hours none stop as I did when driving to Anglesy nothing better than listening to top gear Anthems
