My car is running like a bag o shite and won't idle since changing my carbs. Was ok before. Have noticed that if the ht lead is off the coil and
I flash the headlights, a big chuffing bolt of lightning jumps from thr HT post of the coil to the nearest earth point.....What the hell is that all
about?
Both lamps are individually earthed as well, as is the battery to the chassis, chassis to block and gearbox.
Also, should both posts on the coil and the HT centre be +12v when the ignition is on?

Sounds as if you are feeding another "L.T" to the coil when operating the lights."L.T" is low tention or 12v supply if you
like,opposite to H.T.Therefore as the coil has 12v it wants to generate 12,000+ volts and get shot of it to the nearest ground.The coil NORMALLY has
12+vdc constant feed and 12v- switched feed(switched by points etc)Although fcuk only knows what modern stuff is feed like as a rule of thumb.

Would I be right in saying that the +ve side of the coil should be connected to the ignition module to "charge/supply" the coil and the -ve
of the coil is only required to supply the tacho with a feed?
I have disconnected the -ve connection to the coil (Tiger supplied loom) and guess what, no lightning. So if the above is correct and the -ve
connection of the coil is only for the tacho, the loom must have some dodgy bits and all I need to do is use one new wire direct from the coil -ve
terminal to the tacho signal input and all should be well????????

_ side should go to earth,normally via amp

Have re-wired my whole ignition circuit and still no joy. The black box, dizzy and coil are wired up correctly. When the green wire which connects
from the coil -ve to the black box, I get lightening from the top of the HT socket on the coil to the -ve terminal on the coil (the one the green wire
from the black box is connected to). But this only happens when I flash full beam or switch on my dipped headlights. Two completely different
circuits??????????? I even connected the +ve side of the coil direct to the battery and still the same so it can't be the Tiger loom. I also have
tried another black box and it does the same. Sounds like either a bad coil or a bad earth?????
Please help or I am going to sell the bloody thing and build a lightweight robin hood with a mb engine......

Just a few questions
1, What colours are the three wires on your dizzy Black & ?????? & ??????
2, What is the number on your ECU
3, Is it possible that the Steering column is wired up wrong. So that the wiring loom thinks the coil is a headlight thats why you get a spark when
you flash the lights?
My Dizzy has three wires Orange/Purple/Black and the ECU 83bb12a199. So should be wired as per Tiger book Page 121 fig 9.6 or Haynes manual wiring
diagrams 13.26
Note:- Tiger Book ECU wiring left to right
G,B,BG,GY,BR/B Haynes is G,BG,B,B,BR,GY

Hi Carl.
1) Wires on dizzy are black, orange and dull pink (could be purple).
2) ECU is same as yours 83BB12A199B3A.
3) Don't think so - it is a Tiger loom though! Saying that, the ignition circuit is completely separate.
Which diagram on page 121, the top or the bottom one. Mine is wired as per the top one which appears to be the norm.
Have matched the colours anyway with the wiring so I don't think it's wrong there. Also did it from scratch both times and it has done it
both times?
