Bike battery v Varley type racing battery

Trying to lose as much weigh from the Luego as possible before going off and embarassing myself sprinting again. Was thinking of ditching my battery for a race type one but Luegojnr (who thinks 2 wheels are good??) suggested a bike battery, small and light and cheaper than the 'red top' type. Would it have the oomph to start a car engine (1.8 Zetec in my case)

Don't think the bike battery would be man enough, go for the "Red Top" or you could use a bike one with an "Anderson"plug for cold starting etc.

I've a Harley one on mine, works fine. I thinks it's a PC535MJ.

How do you choose from the range of race batteries, the lightest Varley I've seen only weighed 2.7 kilos and that's way lighter than the one I've got now, I assume there must be a downside to one that light but what is it.

I use a PC680 and it spins a 5l 11.5:1 engine no problem. I use an anderson plug and a slave battery for the first start of the day and it self starts after that. Probably could do without te slave but I've got one of those tiny alternators and am a bit neurotic of getting a flat battery.

Smaller ones available but the weight saving/£/hastle ratio gets smaller in my opinion
