Crash helmet intercom
bi22le - 6/4/10 at 07:26 PM

Hi all,
I asked for advice a while back on here and got little advice and feedback on recommended intercoms. No offense intended just must of got pushed off the front page quickly!!

I have since found this:

http://www.alan-uk.com/mc/products_intercoms_ae600.shtml

It looks like it does what I want for a good price. Has anybody actually got or used one of these??

Anyone got something similar? I would like to know sound quality and volume. Just a general review if possible.
Thanks,

I've got a Autocom - works really well - not cheap, but worth the money.

what autocom is it you both have or is there only one?

nitram38 - 6/4/10 at 08:31 PM

scala Q2. bluetooth, fm radio, links to mobile and sat nav and mp3 player. Gets louder at speed. Connects within 500m of another user.
Had autocom, hard work. Q2 easy

I've tried a few and now run these:
linky

not the cheapest but good clear and reliable.

You only need to buy it once and move it between vehicles.

I've just had another go at sending it on here this time. Was good to meet you too, can't wait to get mine on the road either, though I suspect rowing will prevent too many early weekend meets

The only arse il say is remembering to uplug it when i get out of the car but thats me being a forgetful git.

jeffw - 7/4/10 at 06:58 AM

Autocom for me too....Phone, music, bluetooth, radio & passenger.

ken555 - 7/4/10 at 07:54 AM

Autocom also, but fitted to ear defenders, not a helmet.

But my car has a roof

nitram38 - 7/4/10 at 08:44 AM

I'd still go for Q2.
No wires, no plugs, no walkie Talkies.
Will blue tooth to other Q2's within 500m which makes convoys easy

I asked the same question a week or so ago on PistonHeads and the majority of the replies recommended the Autocom system.

I don't intend using mine very much (and being a tight @rse) don't want to spend £150/£200, the only time I will use it is when I have a passenger on a hoon or run out somewhere, which will not be too often

I have found an Acumen KT5 intercom kit, reduced from £90 to £25 and am tempted but don't want to buy it if they are garbage - has anyone used/tried this kit
